Music has always been a fundamental part of my life. I started playing brass instruments in elementary school and continued in the music programs until I graduated from Centereach High School in 1988. By the time I graduated I was playing brass and stringed instruments in the concert band and jazz band. I also spent time playing rock and roll outside of school with classmates and older musicians.
I started college studying computer science but still had the musical flame burning inside me and continued to play in bands and took music related courses as my electives. I eventually met up with my long time friend and band mate Mitchell Hunter. Together with our keyboard player, Glen Matheson, we forged an eight year attempt at becoming one of the few bands to make it on Long Island. After a number of drummers and bass players in 1997 we had finally found a combination of musicians that worked and with Abbott Morgan on drums and Bernie Musumeci on bass we recorded our first single.
At a studio in Garden City, NY called The Music Palace under the guidance of veteran producer Charlie Greene and Tim Olphie, of Vibe Records, we recorded two songs, "You and Me" and "I'm Free". CD's were manufactured and then there was silence. With little promotion the record could be found in just about every store in the United States, if you knew it was there.
After breaking my leg in the fall of 1998 I decided that I needed to break away from Hunters Run and try writing and recording on my own. Being laid up for three months gave me the time to setup a studio at home using a new technology called desktop recording. After healing I was asked to work with a blind blues singer/drummer, Vinny St. Marten, by a mutual friend, George Weiss. I was hesitant at first but after my first meeting with Vinny I decided that I would co-write and produce his musical motivational program.
Although I was excited about co-writing and producing the time I spent working with Vinny did place my own writing and recording on hold for a year but the experience was priceless. All the material for Vinny's program was recorded using my desktop studio which consisted of the latest PC technology, Cakewalk music software and some nice Alesis monitors. This was enough to produce some great sounding recordings.
As of recent, the summer of 2000, I have been writing and recording my first LP and hope to have it finished by the end of the summer. I miss playing live and the great gigs I had with Hunters Run and hope when the album is done to put a group together and test some of my new songs out on a live audience.
